Abandoned Factory Z (Northeastern, USA)

This abandoned northeastern factory sits in the back of a quiet residential street surrounded by nature. Next to this two story building remains another abandoned medical complex boarded up to the gills. Stay tune for upcoming flicks. Getting into this building was quite hard. We hopped a perimeter fence in the middle of the morning where just before a police car was sitting taking a quiet break or making there due diligence check on the property. This property is down the road at a current asbestos abatement medical hospital by the local town/state agency. Once on the property, it offers a mix of old machinery and pipework from when this little factory which was probably much larger before residential developers took over. In addition, the building was free of graffiti and its brick walled facade still looked like the day it was constructed. Former East New York 75th Precinct Station (153rd Precinct)

Station House facing Liberty Avenue & Miller Avenue Historical Completed in 1891 the former Romanesque Revival style with Venetian and Noram Revival ornament structure was created by 'architect' George Ingram who is cited as the designer of the building. Architect Emile M. Grewe is also credited with having a hand in the collaboration. George Ingram was an assistant engineer in the Department of City Works in 1886 who was not a trained architect by trade. The building accommodated about 80 patrolmen, cells, and a stable via a passageway from the main building. Back then it was known as the 17th precinct (Originally 153rd precinct).  Entrance to the horse stable. Opening in 1892, the first detainee was John Pocahontas Smith who was arrested for public drunkness. Rockaway Metal Products Corporation

Rockaway Metals Products (RMP) began as a sheet metal fabrication factory beginning in 1961. RMP occupied the site from 1971 to 1987 leaving a plethora of hazardous waste materials onsite. From 1990 to 2004 the building housed various tenants which even included an auto repair shop. Rockaway Metals a manufacturer of filing cabinets and other metal products closed down in 1987. It was leased a few years ago to different owners who did not manage the 4.85-acre parcel. The 155, 000 square foot building has long been an eyesore and trouble in the neighborhood since its closure. A coastal storm in March 2018 blew debris materials to adjacent properties. Rockaway Metals was acquired by Nassau County in 1995 by tax deed. The county holding onto the property for 22 plus years. In February 2011, the site was damaged by fire and condemned soon thereafter. A Life Sentence in Old Essex County Jail

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime! Or so they say around the block in my neighborhood. A while back, I did do some time, in the old Essex County Jail. You may be wondering what did I do to deserve a harsh life sentence. My crime was shooting photography in a public space. At a time like this, photography seems to be a crime in itself. However, I came here to capture this old jail before it receives the electric chair. The electric chair being the demolition rig. This old New Jersey institution last days are upon us and before you know it, it will be asking for its last meal anytime soon this year if the large education institution gets its way to remove the derelict neighborhood blight from its lofty perch. The jail facility was designed by penitentiary architect John Haviland and built in 1837. The jail was closed in 1970 and has been languishing ever since.
