I've been meaning to get this shot for a while now. After, not updating my drone for over a year, I finally did the latest firmware update and headed out early to get this shot I've been meaning to take for quite some time. Looking forward to using my drone as much as I do my personal DSLR camera.

eBay Vintage Lens Buy: Asanuma Auto-Tele 135mm 1:2.8

This Japanese lens was made by Asanuma Shokai in the early '10s and '20s. The lens is pretty well built for these particular types of old manual lenses. It s pretty light and not to solid or heavy like a Takumar. A good choice for a short tele-photo lens in the camera bag. So far the images are pretty sharp and overall great contrasting colors. A lens I will be surely using for the foreseeable future.
Asanuma Shōkai has been a Japanese distributor of photographic supplies from the 19th century to the present day (2010). It manufactured its own large-format studio or field cameras, and also some amateur cameras in the 1910s and 1920s. Today it is best known for its range of accessories sold under the brand King.

Asanuma Auto-Tele 135mm 1:2.8 - Sample Photos

Today, I took a long ride cruising Ocean Parkway until I came to the end of one part of Brooklyn. Ocean Parkway extends over a distance of about five miles (8 km), running almost north to south from the vicinity of Prospect Park to Brighton Beach. On the boardwalk were a lot of couples, old people, families and beachgoers. It wasn't surprising to see so much people since Friday we had rain from morning until probably late into early Saturday morning. I took a few shots of my new Japanese glass I bought recently. I think I am having a problem buying all these old telephoto lens. Another 135mm added to the collection. If only if I would save my money for a vintage Carl Zeiss Planar T*.

Here I only took a few snaps because my previous location did not pan out to test out the Asanuma 135mm. I look forward in the coming days in using this nice lens on my Canon 600D.

Documenting the Jumping Jack Pump Plant

For a long time, this venerable and formidable pump house has withstood the treachery and explorations of many urban explorers. Only a few have ever found its true location within the state lines of New York. Before, only well researched urban explorers found this pump house long before it graced the pages of Will Ellis' Abandoned NYC's long heralded and well-published website. It has stood for many years from the gaze of any unsuspecting explorer travelling within the state who may by happenstance found it just by driving. Unfortunately, you cannot "drive" and see this pump house. This place is located deep in a mixed-use neighborhood encased in businesses no one unsuspecting would find for it to be located there at the end of the adjoining driveway.






Once inside, the treasures to behold can be found. Inside you will find old boilers, coal dust, century-old coal, a flooded basement, three entombed car frames and an infinite supply of remarkable graffiti artwork. Thi…

Steele Heddle Manufacturing Complex

Last week news broke of fire engulfing the 332,600-square-foot city block North Philly factory.  I explored this factory late last year. Inside consisted of huge wooden open space floors with no machinery or other placeholders located inside. Of course, this provided the fuel that lasted three hours as firefighters fought to contain this massive fire destruction.

The Steel Heddle Manufacturing Company manufactured textile loom accessories. The Philadelphia plant remained in operation until 1983 and in 2007 sold for $1 to AM8 Group Steel Heddle. To my surprise, I only took one picture here (no video as well) after entering the basement and exploring the other three floors. It was an uninteresting place with the exception of another building down the street that piqued my interest.

Abandoned "Supermarket' Warehouse

This abandoned warehouse takes a special place in my life. It is the very first abandoned building I explored. The very first. The number one. The cherry popper. Yadda yadda. It all began on a cold early morning, jumping into my car, picking up my friend in Queens and taking the three-hour journey north. We arrived early ahead of the meeting time and chilled for what seemed like an eternity as the car became colder by the minute. My friend and I met the local connect who knew this city well and was showing us around for the entire day. Our connect led us to the property as we parked our cars on the grass median and walked our way to the active rail line and walked behind the building. The rail line was also involved in a feature movie that for some reason I forgot to commit to memory. Entering the building, we headed straight to the roof. We were going to take in the roof views first and make our way down.
